Eagle Lake Park's Center Pond
The green scum was not evident two years ago and people would be fishing off the boardwalks and turtles could be seen swimming. It now reminds me of Lake Erie in the 70's: green waste water. My guess is the growth is the result of fertilizer run off. However the good folks at the Mosquito Abatement office sent crews out to treat the pond. By October they had totally eliminated the overgrowth! There are a lot of photos at this website .
The pond remains clean as of 2021.
Much of the overgrowth was removed in 2021 opening up new views of the pond. This is from the trail that wraps around the southern end.

A weir was installed in 2021. It helps with filtration and keeps the duckweed from invading from the south run out.
